How to Manage Domain and DNS in Cpanel

Cpanel Logo

Cpanel Domain and DNS Management lets you control your domains and configure DNS records easily. You can add new domains, edit A, CNAME, MX, and TXT records, and manage subdomains all from one place.

1. Log in to Cpanel

Go to https://yourdomain.com:2083 and log in. Then click on “Domains” or “Zone Editor”.

2. Add a New Domain (Addon Domain)

Click “Add Domain” to host another website on the same account.

  • Domain Name: The new domain you want to add (e.g., exampledomain.com)
  • Document Root: Directory for the domain’s files (e.g., public_html/exampledomain)

3. Edit DNS Records

Open “Zone Editor”, select your domain, and manage DNS entries:

  • A Record: Points the domain to an IP address
  • CNAME: Points the domain to another hostname (e.g., www)
  • MX Record: Defines mail servers for your domain
  • TXT Record: Used for SPF, DKIM, or site verification records

4. Update MX Records for Email

If you use external mail services (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365), update MX records to match their settings.

5. DNS Propagation Time

Changes to DNS records may take 1–24 hours to propagate globally. During this time, your site or emails might not respond consistently.

Note: Incorrect DNS settings can cause website or email outages. Always back up existing records before making changes.
